Nova is an international private equity business specialising in the acquisition of corporate and private equity portfolios.
Their business enables sellers to release their holdings in a portfolio of companies in one transaction. With that in mind we developed the brand strategy of “unlock and re-energise” and brought it to life through an intelligent and thoughtful visual identity.
Nova means star, and stars have always been associated with guidance and limitless boundaries. The Sun, as the star at the centre of the Solar System, has often been used to symbolise enlightenment, radiance and growth. We thought that Nova’s story could be successfully aligned with these positive attributes and created an elegant identity that replaced the “O” in Nova’s name with a stylised representation of the sun.
The vivid illustrations that accompanied the rebrand were inspired by the spectacular displays of the Aurora Borealis which are created by the solar winds flowing past the Earth. We thought their vibrancy and spectacle helped to sum up the proposition and found apocryphal stories to support them that enhanced the brand story further.
